Brooklyn’s very own Sandile, brings a beautiful indie rock sound to this years chaotic fast paced craziness.
They present America’s Boyfriend, a solid 10 track LP of cohesive musicianship and song writing.
Kicking things off with “Shadow of You”, where you know this project is going to be good with lyrics like ‘If I had known, that would be the last time I’d talk to you, I would have been a little meaner’.
Heading straight into Knife, with singer/guitarist Sandile Mhlaba chants ‘I think you’re full of shit
You know you walked right into this’ with stoic precision.
The title track America’s Boyfriend is up next, grungey guitar riffs over smooth bass lines are a given. The mixing on the drums are perfect as well. An ode to a person that doesn’t deserve another is key on this song.
This album is just banger after banger, and the mixing and mastering is one of the best we’ve heard this year. We hope that they’ll be touring at some point next year, so stay tuned for more from this indie grunge garage band from the beast coast.
