The Godmother of Grunge- Giving Her The Flowers She Deserves

/

When you think of the grunge era, you hear the greats, like, Nirvana, Screaming Trees, Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam, and Mudhoney. For the longest these bands have represented the Seattle and grunge sound, but as history unfolds year after year, you’ll find the true origins. Presenting Bam Bam, fronted by the amazing Tina Bell. Singer and songwriter from 1983-1990, and dubbed as “the Godmother of Grunge” and “Queen of Grunge”.

Tina is the pioneer of the Seattle/ near by cities of Washington state sound. Many people were in shock that a black woman spawned this huge subculture, because for decades we’ve only seen long-haired white men dominate the scene.

Big thanks to bassist Scotty “Buttocks” Legerwood of Bam Bam for constantly doing interviews and bringing the band’s whole existence to light, he’s a real one, and they’re finally getting the recognition they deserve, the last few years. Tina passed on October 10, 2012. We only wish she could still be here to get all of the love & flowers she deserves.

Check out these songs from Bam Bam to keep the originators music alive:

‘Free Fall From Space’

‘Ground Zero’

‘World Of Your Future’
