How did you get into cosplay?
I got into cosplay through a close friend of mine. He took me to my first Dragoncon here in Atlanta, and the overwhelming feeling of being surrounded by people who embrace the same fandoms and are comfortable living in a fictional world just stuck with me. It’s a thing of beauty.
How long have you modeled?
About 4 years now.

Do you cosplay often? If so what is your favorite character to cosplay? If not what would be your favorite character to cosplay?
I do, I never miss a con in Atlanta and I just recently started doing cons out of state. My favorite cosplay so far is most definitely my Wally West Kid Flash.
Nightcrawler from X-Men
Do you buy your outfits or do you make them yourself?
I’ve commissioned 3 out of like 7 or 8 cosplays and the rest I make. I have help sometimes with certain pieces from another close friend who specializes in 3D print and LEDs.
What was your first major project and how did you achieve it?
Probably Nightcrawler due to having never dealt with fangs, body paint and learning how to walk with a tail.
Tell us a little about your unique cosplay style.
I always take inspiration from a character’s design or even fan art but i also always end up putting my own spin to all of my cosplays so they never fully look just like the character I’m cosplaying.
What has been an invaluable resource for you while running your business?
My comics most definitely, especially the Silver Age issues.
What do you feel about the presence (or lack thereof) of POC in the mainstream media?
I feel like the lack there of is starting to change, whether in film, comics, the cosplay community, etc. I’m seeing a stronger turn out for POC in media than ever, but we still have a little ways to go
What are your favorite events to attend?
Dragoncon most definitely, Momocon, and AWA. I’m new to Katsucon but I definitely enjoyed it. Colossalcon is next on my list
Are you watching any dope animes or any shows with Cosplay worthy characters?
I’ve been watching Black Lightning a lot and I’ll be basing my Static Shock design off his look very loosely. Fans still want me to do Mugen since I look like him so that’s on the way as well.
Who was the photographer of your submitted photos?
My good friend Matt Parks @mkparksphotography
Can you tell us anything about them? Maybe why you dig them as a photographer or a cool story about you two?
Matt’s attention to detail is amazing in his shots and he’s a hell of a location spotter. He even lets me do the edits and effects to all our pics since he’s as much a fan of my effects work as I am of his photography skills.
Is there anything you want your fans and the fans of PUNK BLACK to know?
Cosplay whomever you see fit, and become that character you look up to or relate to. Once you realize you can do anything you’re free. Remain free
